A young girl who’s named angeline will be now attending her graduation but before they go to the school with her mother her grandmother came to her house to give her a graduation gift to her grandchild and it was a gold necklace. Angeline was very happy with her grandmother’s gift but her mother wanted her grandmother to leave now and its look like don’t have good relationship with each other. Angeline was shocked about what her mother did to her grandmother she really think that this two has a problem which she wanted to know. She wonders why her mother is angry to her grandmother. After the graduation ceremony of Angeline they just decided to went home and at thet night Angeline asked her mother why is it that they have a problem with each other its look like her mother is very angry to her grandmother. Angeline’s mother now opens to her daughter what was really happen. It’s just about that Angeline mother all knew that her grandmother betrayed her grandfather because for all them with her siblings she is the only one who has fair skin and she has a different father.

The story is good, and it was a very inspiring story. It’s just that I feel it should have a good ending not like this because the story makes incomplete and as a reader it confuses me a lot all the events become fast until such thing become question mark for me. What about the relationship of her mother and her siblings what is the reaction on the characters in that diary how is it happen. Although I understand the story but I feel something must be there to complete it.
There is no Explanation to the other main part of the story which it is hard for me to reflect in some part of the story which I can reflect to the feelings of the characters and bring me to not to understand what emotion is in there in the story which is important specially to the readers . Perhaps it should have factors which can bring effect to the readers for us to give emotions and life to the story.
The plot of the story perhaps it must give more to emphasize and give more explanation and information of what happen why some events happen that so fast. Sometimes the events are not mentioned in the story which gives question why the characters happen they are in other setting again. The plot is lack of clarification at the same time lack of various forms which can help the story to be more effective to the readers and more appreciative. 

An old woman and her twelve years old daughter, both in mourning clothes, are riding through banana plantations in the third class of section of a train. It is extremely hot and the air is heavy. They get on the train at 11:00 am and get off at 2:00 pm in a little town. While they are on the train, they eat their lunch. As they approach the town, they straighten their clothes and make themselves presentable. It is siesta time in town. Everything is closed, and people are home eating their lunches and taking naps. The mother and daughter walk in the shade of buildings and tress, and soon arrive at their destination, the priest’s home. The woman scratches the door until the house keeper opens it. The mother insists on seeing the priest, even though it is siesta. Finally the mother and her daughter are allowed to enter the house. The housekeeper is persuaded to get the priest; he says that they should come back at three. The woman refuses as the train leaves at 3:30pm. At last the priest comes out. The mother wants the key to the cemetery to visit her son’s grave. Her son is a thief who was killed in this town a week ago. The priest fills out the page in the key registry with the information the mother gives him. The week before, the son, Carlos Centeno Ayala, had tried to break into a lonely window’s house. She was terrified, took an old gun, aimed it, fired, and killed the thief. The priest asked the mother if she had to straighten out her son. Her answer was a good man and did what he had to do to take care of his family. She accepted his being thief because when was a boxer, he was hurt very often. His pain was more hurtful to his than his stealing. The priest gives them a key and the directions to Carlos’ grave. He notices that people from the town have gathered outside his house. He tries to encourage the mother to go out the side door. She refuses. She takes her daughter’s hand and goes out the way she come in.

The character in the in the Tuesday siesta is n old woman, maybe she is in 58 years of age and a 14 year old girl. They were riding through banana plantation in the third class section of a train. An old woman seemed feel in hurts that’s why she is very serious. They maybe wear a black dress because it said here they are going to her son’s grave. They bring also flowers to put in son’s grave. What if they ride a taxi? Maybe they would feel comfortable. They can sit well and feel so good because of the air conditioned. The next character was the priest, he was an old too, and he is wearing his eyeglasses and rosary necklace. I think he is a good priest because he gives the wish of an old woman. The priest housekeeper was the first who entertain the old woman and the 14 year old girl. Maybe he is a the age of 30 years old. The last character was Carlos Centeno Ayala. It’s not told in the story if how old he is but I think he is 25 years old. It told here that she is a boxer, but her mother was not able like his career, she is worried that her son was hurt. Carlos Centeno Ayala was also a thief. He is dies because her mother killed him through an old gun. The plot or flow of the story was good at first an old woman and a twelve year old girl was riding through banana plantation train. It is extremely hot there. They feel uncomfortable. What if they ride a taxi? Maybe they would feel comfortable and maybe they can sleep for a while. Perhaps it is quite expensive in transportation but it is worth for them because their destination was quite far. But it is said in the story that they are poor. So I understand them why they ride a train. When they reach their destination they fixed themselves first before they get off in the train. Since it is rest time. People in town are in their houses, eating and resting. When they reach the priest home, the mother knock the door but it is still time of the priest to rest. The woman forces the housekeeper to see and talk the priest. Then the priest comes and they talk. They talked about her son’s place of grave. Then she tells to the priest about what had really happen of her son’s death. It was very sad because she is the one who killed her own son. But why she killed him? Maybe that night he wants to enter in their home but the old woman thinks that the man outside their house was a thief or anybody else who will have a bad intention to her or maybe she thinks that she would be killing by that person. Her son was a boxer. Why she let her son stops this thing? What if he continues this? Maybe he would be discovered like Manny pacquiao, and he will become one of the famous boxers in the world rather than he would be a thief. Stealing other people things is not good. It’s shameful. There are many good ways on how to help a family but not become a thief. But why the old woman ride train before they get on her son’s grave? Maybe she ‘go other place to forget what had happen to her son or maybe there is no cemetery there in their place that’s why it took an hours to reach the cemetery. I don’t really understand the point of view of the writer in Tuesday siesta. It’s seemed complicated for me. Maybe the writer would like to see if how the reader can understand the story even though it seemed complicated. He would like to inform us if how important our dignity is. In this situation, it is very hard for the reader on how to cope up with the given situation. He wants to inform us how important the relationship of the mother and her children. The mother should be the one will guide their son/daughter in a good way. Because the mother is always concerned to her children’s life and she don’t want to put them in harm. I feel so in the story. I don’t see any happiness in this story. In the first paragraph seemed sad until I read the whole story. I feel sad because the mother killed her own son. But I can’t blame her. She only protects herself from any harm. Because of her own wrong thinking she don’t know it was her son outside. I know how she really feels. She feels so bad, sad disappointed, angry by herself, embarrass and hate. The place was so sad too because its siesta time, and the place was so quite it seemed that they also mourn to her son’s death. I think she would regret it with her life forever. Her son died because of her. I feel so disappointed to the mother. Why she let her son to become thief if there is many job to find and to survive. She doesn’t think the fact that being a thief is a big sin, especially from God. She is not a good mother in fact she is a selfish person. 

Every night at the Café, there was mature man about 80 years old who was drinking brandy. It was really late but for him it was the perfect time to relax on that kind of place than in any other bar, while inside the café there were two waiters watching him. The two men talked about the mature man. The mature man is deaf but he tries to talk to the waiter through his action. The waiter poured another brandy to the mature man and went back into their station, and then the two waiters talk again. They talk about the life of the mature man, of him being lonely and alone. There was sympathy through the side of the waiters but unfortunately the young waiter wants to go home early for his family, He was really impatient and he ask the mature man to leave, and so he did.

After the mature man left, the two waiters had an argument because for the old waiter he understand that the mature man needs a place in peace while for the young waiter there are so many bar and what’s important for him is he can go home early.

And so the two waiters close the Café, the young waiter immediately went home while the older one try to go to a place where he can see many lights, he took a glass of drink and went away because for him there’s no peace in that place. A Clean, Well – Lighted Place is what they need if they seek for peace and want to enjoy life. He went home and lay down on his bed.

In this story there are three main characters: the young and old waiter and the mature man. In the beginning of the story the center of discussion is the mature man; he is sort of lonely and alone. He commit suicide, perhaps before in his younger age he had a complete - happy family and a loving wife but unfortunately those things were eventually gone, so he feel miserable and try to search for peace and he found it on the café but despite of his scenario in life he try to be a dignified man.

While the young waiter is in the prime of his life, he has a family and a wife that’s why he was insisting to go home early. He might be a selfish in the story and he doesn’t have consideration through the mature man but he just wants to be with his family and appreciates them while he has a time. There was a line there when he said, “He has confidence because he has youth and a job” but what if despite of that he was still afraid? Perhaps he was seeing himself on the shoe of the mature man. That’s why his personality towards him is unpleasant because he might see his future as same as him.

While the other main character which was the old waiter understand the mature man unlike the young waiter, there’s was a time when he sympathize to the mature man it’s like he has the same life as him.

The characters have some conflict or issues regarding to themselves, they have different scenario which include their problems in their lives especially in their intrapersonal relationship, they look like they all searching for something. The dialogue of the characters clearly reflects to their personalities.

The two waiters talked about the mature man as he tries to kill himself. It was started when the mature man went to the café when he usually stays at night when he wanted to drink, and despite his wealth he was still in despair. The story is exciting when the two characters (mature man and young waiter) had an interaction. The young waiter approach the mature man when he ask for another glass of brandy until the young waiter express his impatience because the mature man ask another glass, he insist to the mature man that there’s no more for tonight.

And the mature man went away and the climax is when the young and old waiter had a simple argument/discussion about leaving of the mature man. On those parts you can see the intense of the two main characters, where we can see their personalities and their perception in life. Well the conflict did not actually resolve. At the end, the old waiter compare other bar or bodegas in their Café and why did the mature man prefer to drink in A Clean, Well – Lighted Place rather than to a place with music and full of different lights.

The story is narrated by the use of the limited third person, by using of the pronoun “He” indicating the characters because in the story the author describes the movement and expression of the characters but not what’s on their mind. When the story change into another point of view, the main characters also change and we can identify who had a lead and second role. When we used the first person, automatically the author includes in the story and I think its advantage because the content of the story become clearer than before. But on the other side, the author really wants to stress the mystery of this story because after you read it there are so many questions entering on your mind.

In my opinion the story is good; I’m happy with it but still I’m not really contented. What if the author tells about the reason why the mature man is in despair? What if he tells about the future of them? What if the young waiter let the mature man to stay just for awhile? Perhaps they can have a happy ending, and maybe the readers will easily understand the attitude of one of the main character. Or perhaps we can visualize more things than letting the story end. But all in all the choice of words are very considerate because the author used simple words and the flow of the story was great. Now, I can understand why the story entitled “A Clean, Well – Lighted Place” it is because some person prefer to find peace in a place like that than to hang out to a bar that is full of music and lights.

       Mt. Batulao was located at nasugbo Batangas. It was an amazing place it has a beautiful view, a highest peak to climb and it was know for his unbelievable beauty, so it is worth it to visit. So in the other hand there are groups of friends who plan to climb the Mt. Batulao. Their only goal is to reach the summit, to enjoy the view and the wonderful sceneries of the place. They didn't expect what will be the mountain will offer to them they just want to be surprise for what place have. they start their journey October 24, 2011 they are all excited. So in their meeting place Nikk is the first one to arrive until Jot, Tom and the rest of the group fallowed they are Sandra, the one who loves adventure she is the one who encourage the group to climb the Mt. Batulao while Mitch, Irene and his boyfriend Pam also arrived. Everything was set they go to the terminal after they check there supplies like foods, water and hard drinks. They all excited when they are inside of the bus they eat their lunch. For their long ride they chat, and the others get some nap to recharge their energy. After a 2 hours ride in the bus finally they reach Nasugbo. They need to walk about 2 hours to pass the barrio Kalyawan for them to reach the foot of the mountain. When they finally arrived that will be the start of their goal, to reach the foot of the mountain. When they finally arrived that will be the start of their goal, to reach the summit to pass through the 10 peaks.

        They start at first peak even the trails are initially rough roads, and then transitions to pats that are well maintained, taking you up and down, up and down, at first gently, and then the slopes will be more pronounced later. The groups enjoy the moments, they captured memories in each peak they pass using their cameras. Each peak they finished they get some rest they drink some cold soft drinks that was sold in the mountain even eating halo-halo they really enjoy. Moja the one who has a fatty body sometimes invite them to get some rest because she was easily got tired. They also experiencing to meet some kids who were on their young age working as tour guides for the climber for an amount of 150.00 but the group refuse for the invitation of the kids, they just give them some foods to eat. When they reach the peak number 4 they were walking, they get some pictures, tells some jokes and priceless laughter. Finally they were at the eight peaks this is the moment that they need to decide if they will continue to go to the last peak or they will stay in that peak and build their tents. Nikk asked Tom about it, until they decided to reach for their goal and it is to reach the summit.When they finally get their goals they feel the beauty of Mt. Batulao the breath taking view the cold wind. It is the best place that they were expecting. They enjoy the moment and the view. They arrange their tents and fix their things. They also prepared their drinks that they will use for the rest of the night.

        Eight in the evening when everything was set their dinner was totally fir for the night. When they are all full they prepared for the long night drinking. They have GSM blue nix by juice. The group called as Brgy. Tibay. The session were start, everyone is laughing with bit of their music. They also take some picture, sharing some personal story. It was a long night for them a wonderful adventure they reach their goal safe and happy. When the night becomes deep Moja, Mitch together with Pam and Irene fall asleep. And some are left even they feel a little bit drank they continue to drink one on one. They both enjoy the night ad feel the coldness of the air. Because they drink the entire liquor they didn't notice that they were near to each other. That turns them into kissing each other. Tom can't believe for what was happening to him and Sandra for him their goal is not yet finished. This will be the start for the both of them they were near each other kissing and telling that they loved each other. Tom has feeling for Sandra in the first place so he was shocked when Sandra tells that she also loves Tom so much. They hug each other tightly. When there were enjoying the night Tom shared a poem to Sandra he delivers while looking to Sandra's eyes and feel it with loved.

        This will be the summit for Sandra and Tom that now they already reach. The Mt. Batulao becomes the place for the Brgy. Tibay's adventure and for Sandra and Tom's love story. The rules for their friendship and the peaks that they pass through were totally achieved.

        The character of the story was composed by Nikk, Jot, Pam,Irene, Moja, Sandra and Tom they were called as Brgy.Tibay. They are all love's adventure so they achieved their goals and it is to reach the summit of Mt. Batulao. Each character has different personality but they climb the mountain as one. as they unite each other to enjoy the beauty of mt. Batulao. In the end of their adventure they didn't just finished the peak because for Sandra and Tom the summit of the Mt. Batulao opened the door for them to start the new adventure and it is the love that they have for their energy and laughter's it serves as joy to the readers and it gets through to the readers imagination. While Sandra and Tom gives as a touch of giddy in their love affairs.

       In the journey of the characters they were able to express their personality like Moja who said "Wait, let's take a rest for a while." Just because Moja is a fatty person so she was easily get tired specially they were climbing a highest mountain. They were incidents in the story that the characters give some dialogue to express and show the true situation of the true situation of the story and it gives different feeling for the readers. Like the way Tom and Sandra tells how they loved each other using the words "I Love You".

       The character conflict begins to Tom with his feeling to Sandra. He keeps his feeling to Sandra until the moment when they both drank. There will be interior conflict  to Tom when he didn't know what he will do when they both drank. There will be an interior conflict to Tom when he didn't know what he will do for what Sandra done to him. And also there is a exterior conflict when the Brgy. Tibay got to the 8th peak when they were thinking if they will continue to go to the summit or they just arrange their tents and stop climbing to reach the summit of Mt. Batulao.   

        Mt. Batulao is a good place for a group of friends who loves adventure. This is the setting of the story the root for their fun activities and it serves it as the place where dreams came true. The author gives some details how how mt. Batulao looks like for the characters become excited and the story will become more adventurous. The cold wind, the beautiful view and the nice scenery of place give the touch of excitement for the readers for how the author describes each picture of peak. The author open a conflict in a smooth situation he didn't use hard definition like he just simply start when some characters can't decided first if they will go to continue and reach the summit or not. So as a reader it gives me a little bit curiosity if the group will continue or not. So the author gives a first attack for the conflict.

        As the adventure of Brgy. Tibay continued. The situation becomes more extreme like when everyone finished their foods and all set for drinking session. Some of them fall asleep and get some nap until two characters left Sandra and Tom. This is the moment that the author chooses to give trill to the story it is when Sandra and Tom drinks one on one and got drank until suddenly Sandra kissed Tom. This will be the climax of the story that the reader will be extremely shock and make a conclusion what will be happened next.

       The author chooses some words that will show different feelings of the characters. In the situation that Sandra kissed Tom the reader will make their own conclusion. The author ends the conflict when both Tom and Sandra make love to each other until Tom shared and dedicate poem to Sandra. This is the situation of the story that you will realize what will be the realization of the whole adventure that the Brgy. Tibay made. The conflict between the two characters solve and as in this story the love of Sandra and Tom serves the true adventure of the Mt. Batulao escapade as it becomes part of their love story.  

        The story was told by the author as he described the setting and the characters. As the author narrates the story it is omniscient third-person narrator because as he express and narrate the story as a reader I can feel how the author defines the feelings of the characters specially when Tom and Sandra make love.

        "With the influence of liquor, both of them, Sandra and Tom start to make love to each other despite of the coldness of their surroundings. They keep on kissing to each other. Tom still can't believe of what's happening."

        You will feel how the two characters became in loved with each other and also the way when Tom delivers the poem. This will be the best way of author to express his own feelings by creating two different characters that shows different feelings.

       As I view the story I just think that, what if the author choose the kind of narration as a first person. he can express more the feeling of the main character as Tom or Sandra. And as a reader I can easily relate to the story and feel the different sequence of emotions. And the author can describe the situation alive. But as the author use the omniscient third-person I can say, it is job well done.

     The story of Mt. Batulove I can say as a reader it is good but actually I'm not totally satisfied. Because there are different readers who have some background of the setting used in the whole adventure of the characters. And I'm one of them at the first as I read the title I was excited especially when I read the part of the golden rule.

        "When you're in the mountain so nobody gets hurt. Follow and you'll be safe". "Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures and kill nothing but time".

        I was expecting too much about the adventure of the characters as the author described the settings I think he must give more description how the view of Mt. Batulao have. I also view that what if the author give big conflict between Sandra and Tom so that the expectation of the reader will not vanish. he must give more thrills in the adventure so that it makes it more exciting. But overall the story is good but it can be enhance more to bit the expectation of the reader as the author chooses an adventure between friendship and real love.
